About DREAM

DREAM of Hattiesburg, Inc. (DOH), is an over 35-year-old 501(c) 3 non-profit, community-based substance abuse prevention agency certified by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. 

 

DREAM’s RADAR Resource Center provides alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) abuse prevention print materials (posters, curriculum resources, DVD/video checkout, and brochures) in South Mississippi, and also offers training and technical assistance in community mobilization, coalition development, youth leadership development, experiential learning, service-learning, evaluation, ATOD abuse prevention (marijuana, underage drinking, merchant education, suicide prevention, and prescription drug abuse) and other related topics. DREAM’s community-based prevention activities and effective evidence-based prevention programming (i.e., Communities Mobilizing for Change on Alcohol, Positive Action, Project Towards No Drugs, Project Northland: Amazing Alternatives/Slick Tracy, Life Skills) are offered to children and youth in high-risk environments and schools in South Mississippi. DREAM has numerous partnerships with agencies and volunteers working together on prevention activities in South Mississippi.

The key areas of focus for our organization is to  provide reliable education resources to our community. In addition, we aim to combat the presence of bullying and suicide to the best of our ability.

DREAM was founded in August 1983 by a group of citizens that were concerned with tobacco, underage drinking, and other drug abuse.

DREAM has educated communities by using resources that promote a drug-free lifestyle as well as providing alternatives that promote a positive, healthy way of life.

DREAM  is committed to bringing positive change throughout South Mississippi.

DREAM will continue to grow to meet the new demands of our communities as well as staying up to date with the latest research on prevention!
